crafty christmas – 3d scandi paper star decoration

for the last couple of christmases i’ve been making card or craft paper stars. they look spectacular and are really easy to make. i’ve made them for us, for friends and for friends shops! you too could make some if you like, you can find the instructions just here.

this year however i stumbled across some little paper decorations whilst in new york and they were even more fab! so i bought one pulled it apart and up scaled it.
what you will need:

– card or sturdy craft paper. we used plain white a3 sized paper.
– ruler
– scalpel and cutting board
– double-sided tape

i cut 20 strips from the long length of the paper or card. i then placed 5 out straight in front of me. i then took 5 more which i then wove them in and out. i centred them and pushed them in close together.

5 strips           woven strips

next i took the inside corner strips and pulled them together and stuck with double-sided tape. then i took the next two strips and did the same, creating the stars points. i did this around all four corners leaving just one strip in the centre on each side.

i then made another one, exactly the same way. i kept the one on the bottom flat like the picture above and turned the other one around and laid on top.

i then pulled the long strips through the star points and stuck the two sets of star points to the straight strips. once stuck down i then trimmed of the edges the keep the points and tah dah!

SAMSUNG CSCi put a loop on the back and it was finished and ready to hang in place
