listography – top 5 things i love about kids

kids eh? who’d have ’em? actually they are quite a lot of fun, once you get past the shear exhaustion, which i’m gradually discovering that i don’t think ever actually ever passes. well, until they have left home, get married and have some kids of their own and then you baby sit them, sooooooo a complete 360, oh well life goes on.

1. they say it how it is.

they don’t get circumstance, so they can be brutally honest and any moment. i wish i could get away with this. i am brutally honest but i just don’t get away with it. i can’t bear nonsense and sometimes i just can’t hold my tongue anymore and out it pops. now if i was 3, then maybe i could, but i’m not so i don’t, so i kinda love this about kids.

2. they are funny without knowing it.

they have so much to learn, that sometimes they say the funniest things, just because it makes complete sense to them but not to us, as we live in the grown up world and we have learnt that things aren’t always that simple, but it’s fun to be part of that simplicity just for a moment, which is why it must be great to be a kid and just not know the truth.

3. they build and make things all day.

i like making things, i wish i could do this all day, oh actually i make things for a living… so maybe i do? anyway ignore that, they build and make things all day without having to report into someone and being told what size, shape or colour to make it. their creative little minds make wonderful things, a freedom which is priceless, a freedom which kids don’t realise they have. i’d love to have that kind of freedom back.

4. they laugh.

the sound of a childs laugh can make any day a bright one. the insane giggling is the most amazing sound, tickling and blowing raspberries on them whilst they squeal with delight. giggling so hard you think that their heads might fall off. you stop, they calm and then they scream “again! again! mummy, again!”. their laughter is good for your soul.

5. they love.

the love from a child is extraordinary, something that can’t be described. from the first time they really cuddle and grasp you, or when they are hurt and can’t possibly feel better without you. the best thing i love about kids is the way the love you.

if it was a top 6 i would defiantly have this:

they need stuff.

i like stuff, i’m good at buying stuff. now that we have a kid i have even more shopping opportunities/excuses. infact i’m sure i have some kind of bipolar type shopping problem, ronnie has a lot of stuff. FACT.

Lovely! I’m glad you didn’t bump number 5 for number 6 though – that would have been very wrong!

One of the reasons I love blogging is to capture all those funny things they do which you’d forget otherwise.
