petts wood

on sunday we went for lunch at Mr HPMcQ’s aunts house. she lives just a hop skip and a jump away from us. the sun had been shinning all weekend and we were busting to get out in the spring air. after filling our bellies full of roast chicken with all the bits and bobs that go with and filling that last little gap with a generous slice of berry pavlova we headed to the woods for a squelch and a potter in the woods, petts wood.

petts wood, acquired its name from a family of shipbuilders who were called pett and this was their wood. this is where they acquired wood to build their ships. quite simple really. the woods was donated to the national trust in 1927.

in we go!

ronnie was taking the lead but not before he showed us some of his ninja moves

Mr HPMcQ teased ronnie that the last one across the log would get thrown in the steam

the boys hid in the trees, can you spot them?

whilstย i got stuck in the mud looking for them

ronnie practiced balancing using a very zen approach

running down a hidden tracks and then out into the open fields full of sunlight from the setting evening sun

one last game of pooh sticks before we headed home

hello spring
