on new years eve the weather was not much short of hideous
we drove to the seaside, walked a long way down to the beach
(to then discover a car park right by the beach, doh)
we got soaked to our bones, and why?
because ronnie wanted to build sand castles
and if thats what he wanted, that indeed is what we would do
I love this…the things you do for your kids hey!
the weather was so hideous but he really wanted a sand castle, couldn’t bear that bottom lip going when i said it was too wet, so off we went. weirdly for the half hour we were on the beach the rain did stop.
Was it the long road/drive (Queen Anne?) down to Holkham beach you walked along? At least the dodgy weather would have kept the beach clear of nudists! π Lovely pic of rock n roll Ronnie x
No but I know the one you mean. We parked in Wells town and didn’t see the road down to the beach until we had walked in the rain, all the way to the beach hmmm. Hey ho you live and learn π
Oh no! That is a lovely walk though. I did it by myself in the Summer and Rob drove the kids to the beach. Maybe nicer on a warm sunny day mind π
Continuous windy rain in your face didn’t make for happy people! Must do a summer jaunt, however I’m sure ill pick the tiny week!
I love winter walks along the beach even in the wind and rain xx
ronnie was happy a larry and didn’t care what the weather was, he was all for going for a dip….
That’s real lurve that it. Bless him. Glad to see you didn’t come to Brighton and not call! No sand ‘ere anyway! Happy New Year Vanessa X
oooooo hadn’t twigged your a brighton lass, we are in brighton often so will pop in for a cuppa x
And why not?? He looks well prepared for anything anyway! Brilliant photo x
sometimes it’s better not to try and reason with them and just go with the flow….
sometimes, no matter what the weather, everyone is better after getting outside for a bit.
that is very true
And why not too! I love the editing on the photo, it almost looks sunny! Do please join me over on Country Kids. I’m sure looking back at this photo of him enjoying that sand makes the walk in the rain all worthwhile!
oh completely, he absolutely loved it, so being soaked through to the bone didn’t seem to mater. ill pop right over and link up x
Thanks for linking up!
Oh bless him – I do love a good old trip to the beach! Were you still dressed as a cracker at this point ?
ah you enjoyed our christmas apparel i see! he he
Love how kids are happy on the beach whatever the weather! Great pic! π
so so happy, just a bucket and spade and nearly the whole beach to ourselves, glorious x
If they want to go to the beach, you have to go to the beach never mind what month of the year it is. We’ve been on the beach in waterproofs and winter coats before now.
i had snow boots on! ha ha
Great picture, love the things we do for our kids, glad you had a good day even if it was a bit cold..
and they in turn make for the best memories too x
You’re brave! I like the idea of a wind-swept beach in winter….but not so much the reality. My brain can’t compute that it can be cold on a beach, just seems wrong to my antipodean mind π I bet my kids would love it though, Ronnie looks like he’s having a ball.
give it a go, it’s actually really quite lovely. so much open space and so few people yippeee
Love this [and another hat] my daughter would play all day in the sand if I let her
Thisdayilove
we bought a job lot!! hats not sand this is
Nothing like the beach! I know exactly how he feels π
Next time it’s raining I’ll give you a shout! Ha ha
Ah, these are the things that memories are made of. You’ll be saying ‘remember when we drove to make sandcastles in the rain’ many times over the coming years I am sure. Lovely photos.
Your so right and that’s why it’s worth it x
