so today this happened
idiot woman : oh so you work full-time?
hpmcq : yes i work full-time
idiot woman : *scowling face like she just trod in dog shit* why do you do that if you have a child?
hpmcq : to pay the mortgage, buy food, pay the bills…..
idiot woman : but surely if you have a young child you should be at home being…well, you know, a mother at least part of the week?
hpmcq : surely if you’re an adult you should realise that you are… well, an idiot?
*walks away slowly, mentally punching idiot womans face, repeatedly*
I hate people like that. Yes, I stay at home (and at the moment, we can barely/not at all afford to) but I also worked full time after I had my oldest child. I’m at home because we would have less money if I was working and paying a nursery to watch two children, but that’s our decision and our situation. It would be equally valid if I’d decided to go back to work for adult company and to save my sanity. Some people should keep their nose out.
slummy to yummy mummy
it doesn’t bother me people asking why i work, like it wouldn’t bother me if i didn’t and people asked me why i didn’t. what bothers me is that they think they have the right to asses your life without knowing absolutely anything about it!!! grrrrrrrr
Your seething anger came through very well on Twitter by the way.
She really is a condescending old bint.

if it hadn’t been in my place of work i think my response would have be far less controlled
i think my response would be something along the lines of ”do you have children? no, oh well come back with your opinions on motherhood and juggling family life when you do” then smugly walk away 😀
How bloody rude of her! How dare she question you and your life. Cow!
Shame it was just a mental punch in the face.

outside of work i might well have been tempted!
