many years ago i used to work for a retailer buying their christmas department. it was a huge amount of fun and as part of the development process i learnt how to make crackers. they are not difficult, you just need a little bit of patience and a some time to pull everything together. it’s so wonderful to pull a cracker on the day, and for your guest to have something personal as a gift rather than something fairly random or useless, and yes they do have to laugh at the jokes otherwise no turkey!

oh me oh my, why did we not know about this before? it only came to my attention last weekend when talking about nigella recipes. i might sound slightly ridiculous but it came highly recommended, so being a lover of all things pig, we popped off to the supermarket and gave it a go!

december is quickly whizzing by and before we know it school will be out for the christmas holidays and then the fun really does begin!

but what about christmas gifts? well this year we are going to cook up a cookie treat. we baked these last year and they didn’t last very long at all, so we are going to make gift bags for the teachers this year full of yummy cookies.

for the last couple of christmases i’ve been making card or craft paper stars. they look spectacular and are really easy to make. i’ve made them for us, for friends and for friends shops! you too could make some if you like, you can find the instructions just here.

this year however i stumbled across some little paper decorations whilst in new york and they were even more fab! so i bought one pulled it apart and up scaled it.
