when we left gran canaria this evening, i hadn’t even thought about what wonders we might see on take off. so it’s was a stunning surprise to the beautiful pico de teide standing proud above the blanket of clouds, silhouetted in the setting evening sun.

there doesn’t have to be much reason in spain to have a fiesta however la romeria is quite a biggy in fiesta second to carnival time.

a romeria you say? well it comes from the word “romero” meaning travelling towards rome. it’s a catholic celebration, a pilgrimage that in today’s world is a procession, of floats, music and dancing, food and cattle! to translate in a very simple way it’s kind of spains harvest festival. the celebration lasts all day long, and why wouldn’t it?!
