today has been diy day. we have been gradually smartening up the living room. it’s been a bit drawn out process with other stuff popping up here there and pretty much everywhere, but we are now on the home run. today was all about getting the old shelves out, which were only meant to be a temporary fix, 8 years ago, and bringing in the new. living in a 50s house, we try to be to be sympathetic to its time. mixing in mid-century modern with ermmm modern. so when it came to buying our new shelves we opted for some shelves designed way back in 1949 by nils “nisse” strinning. at the time a ground breaking concept, which has now become one of the most loved pieces of classic scandinavian design. may i introduce our new string shelving system.
