this week, week three of the better photo project, is all about focal points when taking a photograph of either an animal or a person. jenny from just photos by me / cheetahs in my shoes shares her top tip of focusing in on the eyes and letting everything else just happen around the shot. jenny knows her stuff so you’d best listen.
so eyes? hmmmm i know someone with the perfect set of peepers for this kind of shot. a set of peepers that i think may well cause a spot of bother when he is older and has learnt how to use them to their full effect.
today however, ronnie wasn’t playing ball and didn’t really have an interest in mummy doing her homework, so i had to snap around him.
i cropped the shot in a little to make even more of his eyes and those outrageous eyelashes. then for a spot of added drama, i edited into black and white. the lightness of his skin now draws the focus completely onto the darkness of his deep brown eyes.

Stunning – I love the b&w and I think maybe it’s better when you work around them – it can be a much more natural shot xxx
sometimes you have no choice jenny!
Beautiful and I just love how you have framed in on his face. Ah he’s got the loveliest long lashes x
