i collected ronnie from school this evening sporting a very colourful superhero cape that he had made himself. this is our conversation in the car.

HPMcQ: so what else did you make rooster?

ronnie: a sword, argghhhhhhh, and i’m going to chop your head off with it!

HPMcQ: well that’s not very nice, how will i drive the car home without my head?

ronnie: i’m only pretending mummy

HPMcQ: oh i see, were you pulling my leg?

ronnie: no i’m not, i’m all the way back here and you are there, i can’t reach your leg.

 

 

roald dahl died in 1990, 22 years ago, but his genius story telling is stronger than ever in the most incredible childrens books that anyone will ever read. shortly after his death, his widow felicity dahl, founded the roald dahl’s marvellous children’s charity in 1991. the charity supports thousands of children and young people in the uk living with serious haematological and neurological conditions. every year dahlicious schools hold a dahlicious dress up day, where for a small donation children go to school as a roald dahl character. these donations, help to raise funds for specialist nurses, equipment & care.

yesterday at work i was really quite shocked at a conversation. i know this because i walked away thinking jesus that’s not on. it bothered me all evening and then it’s been bothering me today.
