ronnie and i went to the book shop

over christmas ronnie really started to love the gruffalo. all slightly engineered by me as i had booked tickets to see the theatre show, as an in between christmas and new year family treat. so in preparation we watched the gruffalo and the gruffalo’s child. he loved them. we had to watch them a fair few times. “more grufflao mummy more!”

i had promised that i would get him the book and last night he pulled me up on that promise. driving through the village on the way home ronnie tried to entice me back into pizza express, i resisted and onwards we travelled. however just past the traffic lights we stopped to let a car through and just next to us was the book shop.

ronnie : mummy you promised me a gruffalo book

hpmcq : yes i did, sorry ronnie

ronnie : that shop has books, let’s get it now

stricken with guilt of not having got him the book for nearly a month, i promptly pulled over. now if that book shop doesn’t have it, i’m screwed!

i like books, i’m an old-fashioned kind of gal when it comes to things like books and photos. i don’t really get why you would want to read it on a hand-held tablet thing or only have digital photos. i like pages, i like turning the pages, both when i read and when i look through photos.

back to the car

ronnie practically jumped out the seat to the pavement and skipped into the shop.

hurrah they had a bountiful collection this is what we bought

the shop lady complemented us on our choice, but suggested if we only wanted to get one of the gruffalo books we may want to get room on the broom as an alternative. as it came so highly recommended i snuck it in without the rooster seeing and tonight we are going to read it.

for me, well i wondered whether if i could incorporate some kind of 366 project in conjunction with this little paper back. would anyone like to join in? nom nom nom

So glad they had the book, I hate it when a kid comes in to our shop and we don’t have the most desired book in stock.

Hopefully the staff would go into placate mode for Ronnie, and offer to get him his book as quickly as possible.
