many years ago i used to work for a retailer buying their christmas department. it was a huge amount of fun and as part of the development process i learnt how to make crackers. they are not difficult, you just need a little bit of patience and a some time to pull everything together. it’s so wonderful to pull a cracker on the day, and for your guest to have something personal as a gift rather than something fairly random or useless, and yes they do have to laugh at the jokes otherwise no turkey!
for the last couple of christmases i’ve been making card or craft paper stars. they look spectacular and are really easy to make. i’ve made them for us, for friends and for friends shops! you too could make some if you like, you can find the instructions just here.
this year however i stumbled across some little paper decorations whilst in new york and they were even more fab! so i bought one pulled it apart and up scaled it.
i saw these little houses at a press show back in july, a christmas press show in july. i thought they were fabulous. the lady making them helen musslewhite has an increadible talent. she made some fabulous centre pieces which were beyond magnificent. check this centre piece out. truly inspiring. for the last couple of years, we have made our own christmas decorations. this year will be very much the same. we start our crafty christmas with salt dough decorations. this is how we did ours.
when i was in new york a couple of months back, i kept seeing a lot of photo booth prop kits popping up, seems to be a bit of a crazy at the moment i what i’m thinking, and they looked easy peasy to make so i thought i would make some for christmas to us and in the in-laws amused.
