someone is very much holiday ready
there doesn’t have to be much reason in spain to have a fiesta however la romeria is quite a biggy in fiesta second to carnival time.
a romeria you say? well it comes from the word “romero” meaning travelling towards rome. it’s a catholic celebration, a pilgrimage that in today’s world is a procession, of floats, music and dancing, food and cattle! to translate in a very simple way it’s kind of spains harvest festival. the celebration lasts all day long, and why wouldn’t it?!
we recently spent a couple of weeks with my parents. a well deserved early summer holiday, relaxing, having lazy mornings and spending time lounging around, eating good food, drinking local beer and having absolutely nothing to do on the to do list. a very welcome change and break from the norm of day-to-day life.
