pin it forward

Pinterest_Logo

have you pinned? are you a pinner? if not why not?! come on join me and millions of others, it’s the most fabulous thing ever and hugely HUGELY addictive

pinterest is formally launching in the uk, right about now, however i first discovered pinterest just under two years ago and the enormity of the potential blew me away. so much so that at the time i was travelling with work and i showed my two assistants and that was it. we did not talk for the rest of the week, apart from a nod here and there to “ooooo nice pin”

so what is pinterest? well to borrow the official introduction, pinterest is a tool for collecting and organizing things you love. it’s incredibly easy to use and is relentless in inspiration

PINS

a pin starts it’s life by being pinned to pinterest by a pinner. you can add a pin from a website, so if you see something you like, a frock, a car, a chair, a house, a blog post, pin it. use the pin it bookmarklet and it is simple. or maybe you want to upload something from your computer. an image you took perhaps, a gorgeous shoe, an incredible meal, a wonderful view, a magic moment. any pin can then be searched for and re pinned by other pinners, and all pins link back to their source. add some commentary so that the image is searchable, otherwise it may go under so many people’s radar, and if you think it’s special many others may do too

BOARDS

your boards are like virtual pin boards and this is where you can organize all y our pins by topic or event. i use my pin boards in very different ways and i will show you more about that in just a mo. your boards are public, but you can have secret ones too, just 3 mind, but these are handy for any surprise planning you might be doing! you can also invite other pinners to pin to your boards so great if you are wanting to pull together ideas as a collective

so a bit about my boards

photography

i have a 365 project, a project where i take a photo everyday, a photo of something or someone from my day. i share them here on my blog but i also share them on pinterest

Follow HPMcQ’s board 365 – 2013 on Pinterest.

lifestyle

i am passionate about everything with the home. i guess that might show in my boards. i’m always thinking about what the perfect bedroom, kitchen, bathroom or hallway might look like. if i had a country home what would that look like? if i lived in a city what would that look like. a fantasy world that maybe just maybe one day could come true. my boards are full of inspirational homes

food

who doesn’t love cake? really? no you’re lying, cake is everything! i’ve only just started baking so love trying out new things. so i collect recipes on my errrrr cake board!

kiddies

my lord they have active little minds and when it comes to entertaining them pinterest is the perfect place to find something fantastic to do. cooking, crafting, dress up, parties the lot it’s all here.

i could go on and on and ON!

FOLLOWING PINNERS

when you see things you like, take a moment to look at who has pinned them, there might be more things you like. if you would like to see their pins on a regular basis, follow them. these pins will now show in your home feed. you can follow all their boards or just particular ones. you choose. just click follow

so have i convinced you? do you even need convincing? why not come follow me here.

or maybe have a quick peek over at capture by lucy, she will be posting on her blog tomorrow on how she uses pinterest. below is her board of her wish list, isn’t it glorioius!
