on new years eve the weather was not much short of hideous

we drove to the seaside, walked a long way down to the beach

(to then discover a car park right by the beach, doh)

we got soaked to our bones, and why?

because ronnie wanted to build sand castles

and if thats what he wanted, that indeed is what we would do

rain or shine

the weather was so hideous but he really wanted a sand castle, couldn’t bear that bottom lip going when i said it was too wet, so off we went. weirdly for the half hour we were on the beach the rain did stop.

Was it the long road/drive (Queen Anne?) down to Holkham beach you walked along? At least the dodgy weather would have kept the beach clear of nudists! πŸ˜‰ Lovely pic of rock n roll Ronnie x

No but I know the one you mean. We parked in Wells town and didn’t see the road down to the beach until we had walked in the rain, all the way to the beach hmmm. Hey ho you live and learn πŸ˜‰

Oh no! That is a lovely walk though. I did it by myself in the Summer and Rob drove the kids to the beach. Maybe nicer on a warm sunny day mind πŸ˜‰

Continuous windy rain in your face didn’t make for happy people! Must do a summer jaunt, however I’m sure ill pick the tiny week!

sometimes it’s better not to try and reason with them and just go with the flow….

sometimes, no matter what the weather, everyone is better after getting outside for a bit.

And why not too! I love the editing on the photo, it almost looks sunny! Do please join me over on Country Kids. I’m sure looking back at this photo of him enjoying that sand makes the walk in the rain all worthwhile!

so so happy, just a bucket and spade and nearly the whole beach to ourselves, glorious x

If they want to go to the beach, you have to go to the beach never mind what month of the year it is. We’ve been on the beach in waterproofs and winter coats before now.

and they in turn make for the best memories too x

You’re brave! I like the idea of a wind-swept beach in winter….but not so much the reality. My brain can’t compute that it can be cold on a beach, just seems wrong to my antipodean mind πŸ™‚ I bet my kids would love it though, Ronnie looks like he’s having a ball.

Ah, these are the things that memories are made of. You’ll be saying ‘remember when we drove to make sandcastles in the rain’ many times over the coming years I am sure. Lovely photos.
