canal strolling part two

i was east side again this saturday afternoon, but this time all on my tod. after leaving nanny minnie’s i fancied a little wonder. so instead of heading down to the regents canal, i headed a little further east, to the hertford union canal (ducketts canal), a short stretch of canal originally opened in 1830 as a short cut, which links up the regents canal to the lee navigation.

i briefly lived round the corner for a while and the area has changed so much since then, with the queen elizabeth olympic park bringing much-needed regeneration to the area.

the area is known for its street art. i little while back i had heard that borondo had painted an amazing piece and i was itching to find it. it did not disappoint. of course i snapped a few more along the way.

i believe these people are making giant eyeballs? each to their own i guess!

the hertford union canal

and here is the borondo piece i was searching for. so brilliantly clever. painted completely upside down. check out the reflection in the water. perfect.
